Main Menu bar (top)

File Menu
You can find the file input-output functions as well as the basic connection options and the settings in this menu.
Quick connect... Quick connect...
Allows you to connect to a hub by specifying its address. This field also handles Magnet links.
Connect to a favorite hub group Connect to a favorite hub group
Opens a dialog asking to select a favorite hub group; after pressing "OK" in that dialog, Hub windows will be opened for every hub that is part of the selected favorite hub group.

Reconnect Reconnect
To reconnect (disconnect and connect again) the hub which is currently in the foreground. If the active window is not a hub, it does nothing.
Open file list... Open file list...
This menu is for opening a previously downloaded filelist. It defaults to the FileLists folder inside the directory used to store DC++ settings files.
Open own list Open own list
You can open and check how your own file list looks like. Useful to see what's displayed to others when they get your file list.
Match downloaded lists
This function is used to match your download queue for already downloaded file lists (they stored in the FileLists folder inside the directory used to store DC++ settings files).
Refresh file list Refresh file list
This will immediately rescan your shared directories for new or changed content and updates your file list.
Open downloads directory Open downloads directory
Opens your downloads folder in Windows Explorer.
Open crash log
When DC++ encounters a crash, it writes a "CrashLog.txt" file. This command helps view the contents of the crash log in a Text viewer window. You're encouraged to report crash logs in the official DC++ bug tracker.
Settings Settings
Opens the Settings panel.
GeoIP database update
Starts downloading the latest GeoIP databases (provided they aren't already being downloaded) then handles saving them at the right place.
Note that this operation is automatically run every 16 days.
MaxMind's GeoIP databases are used by DC++ to get information about user countries.
Plugins Plugins

Opens the Plugins configuration submenu containing the following commands:

  • "Add" displays a file selection dialog to install a new plugin.
  • "Configure" opens the Plugins configuration page.
  • Installed plugins are listed below. They can be selectively enabled or disabled. A "Configure" command is also available for each of them (the behavior of which is plugin-dependant). Plugins are also allowed to add additional commands in that sub-menu.
Exit Exit
Closes DC++.
View Menu
You can open all DC++ tabs and windows with the sub-items of this menu. Some kind of tabbed windows can have only one instance opened while you are able to open more from others. If you try to open more from a tab which can't have more than one instance, the already opened one will be focused.
Public Hubs Public Hubs
Open the Public Hubs window.
In there, you can retreive lists of available hubs and connect to them.
Favorite Hubs Favorite Hubs
Open the Favorite Hubs window.
In there, you can store and manage you favorite places in the DC network.
Users Users
Open the Users window.
You can see all the users of the connected hubs listed in there. Additionally you can manage your favorite DC users here as well as grant extra access to your share for any of them.
Download Queue Download Queue
Open the Download Queue window.
In there, you can track and manage your files being downloaded.
Finished Downloads Finished Downloads
Open the Finished Downloads window.
It lists your downloaded files in the current session.
Finished Uploads Finished Uploads
Open the Finished Uploads window.
It lists the files uploaded from you in the current session.
Search Search
Open the Search window.
This is the place where you can search for files to download.
ADL Search ADL Search
Open the ADL Search window.
It incorporates a tool for filtering file lists downloaded from users.
Notepad Notepad
Open the Notepad window.
In there, you can store random text. The text will be kept even if you close DC++.
System Log
Open the System Log window.
It is where all the system messages of the current session are logged.
Network Statistics Network Statistics
Open the Network Statistics window.
It displays a real-time chart of the average speed of data sent and received by DC++.
Indexing progress Indexing progress
Open the Indexing progess dialog.
It shows you the current state of file hashing operation and how much time there is left from it.
Menu bar
Toggle the permanent visibility of the main menu bar. When it is hidden, the menu bar can be temporarily brought back into view with standard Windows shortcuts (Alt or F10).
Toolbar
Enable or disable the toolbar.
Transfer view
Enable or disable the transfer view.
Status bar
Enable or disable the status bar.
Window Menu
You can find options here to close all instance of specific groups of tabs by one click.
Close disconnected hubs Close disconnected hubs
Closes all disconnected Hub windows.
Close all hubs of a favorite group Close all hubs of a favorite group
Opens a dialog asking to select a favorite hub group; after pressing "OK" in that dialog, all opened Hub windows that are part of the selected favorite hub group will be closed.

Opens a dialog asking to select a favorite hub group; after pressing "OK" in that dialog, all opened Hub windows that are not part of the selected favorite hub group will be closed.

Close all PM windows Close all PM windows
Closes all Private Message windows regardless of their online status.
Close all offline PM windows Close all offline PM windows
Closes all offline Private Message windows.
Close all file list windows Close all file list windows
Closes all opened file list windows. Saved file lists can be reopened by selecting "Open file list..." from the File menu.
Close all search windows Close all search windows
Closes all opened Search windows.

The toolbar provides quick access to some regularly used parts and functions of DC++. You can customize the toolbar for yourself, add, remove and group the buttons using the following toolbar customization functions:

The toolbar can hold the following available icons:

Public Hubs
Open the Public Hubs window.
Reconnect
Reconnect (disconnect and connect again) the hub which is currently in the foreground.
Favorite Hubs
Open the Favorite Hubs window.
Use the arrow placed on the right of the icon to easily connect to one of your favorite hubs without having to open the Favorite Hubs window.
Consult the help topic associated to the Favorite hub groups dialog to find out how to add sub-menus to the menu that appears under the arrow.
Users
Open the Users window.
Download Queue
Open the Download Queue window.
Finished Downloads
Open the Finished Downloads window.
Finished Uploads
Open the Finished Uploads window.

Open the Search window.
ADL Search
Open the ADL Search window.
Network Statistics
Open the Network Statistics window.
Open downloads directory
Opens your default finished downloads folder in Windows Explorer. Useful for quick accessing your downloaded files.
Open file list...
Open a file list previously saved on your disk (a dialog will appear so you can pick the one you wish to open).
Open own list
You can open and check how your own file list looks like. Useful to see what's displayed to others when they get your file list.
Refresh file list
This will immediately rescan your shared directories for new or changed content and updates your file list.
Recent windows
Open menus with MRU lists of recently opened windows. The list is saved across DC++ restarts.
Settings
Open the Settings dialog.
Notepad
Open the Notepad window.

Open the Plugins configuration page.

Use the arrow placed on the right of the icon to manage plugins:

What's This?
You can get help on specific parts of DC++ by using the "What's This?" help button: click it once, and your mouse cursor will change into a help cursor; then click on the control you wish to get help for.

Tabs

Each window opened in DC++ has a corresponding tab, which appears in the global tab control.

Tabs in DC++ behave the same as in standard Windows applications; moreover, they have the following additional features:

You can customize the look and behavior of tabs from the Tabs settings and Windows settings respectively.

Status bar (bottom)

The main status bar is always visible in the bottom of the DC++ window. You can get information from the current state of several parameters of DC++ here. The status bar is divided into sections for better visibility. Their meaning from left to right:
System messages
The first part of the status bar contains the last system message with a timestamp. To see more from the recent system messages you can move the mouse pointer above the statusbar - the last 10 lines of the messages will be shown as a tooltip shortly. To see all system messages of the current session open the System Log window from the View menu or simply double-click on this part of the status bar.
Online userAway user Away indicator
The user icon turns from green to grey when DC++ is in away mode.
Double-click to switch away mode on and off.
Hubs Hubs
Shows the number of hubs you are currently connected to in the following format: x/y/z, where:

x = number of connected hubs where you're not a registered user;
y = number of connected hubs where you're registered in;
z = number of connected hubs where you're an operator;

just the same way as in the DC++ tags of the users listed on a hub.
SlotsSlots full Slots
Indicates the number of currently free upload slots out of the total number of slots opened.
Downloaded bytes Total downloaded bytes
Shows the total number of bytes received in the current session, including file transfers, hub-client communication and hublists.
Double-click to open the Network Statistics window.
Uploaded bytes Total uploaded bytes
Shows the total number of bytes sent in the current session, including file transfers and hub-client communication.
Double-click to open the Network Statistics window.
Download speed Current download speed
Shows the current overall download speed and the number of current download connections in parentheses (updated in every second).
Double-click to open the Network Statistics window.
Upload speed Current upload speed
Shows the current overall upload speed and the number of current upload connections in parentheses (updated in every second).
Double-click to open the Network Statistics window.
Download speed limit Current download limit
Shows the current maximum download rate. Zero speed value means that download limiting is disabled.
Upload speed limit Current upload limit
Shows the current maximum upload rate. Zero speed value means that upload limiting is disabled.
